I think that's where the infidelity condoning is coming from too. I've lost count of how many slash or femslash pairings I've read that have had infidelity because one half of the pairing (or even both sides of the pairing) are already married or whatever in canon.
Het relationships are more likely to be canon so this doesn't happen as much in those fics.
