Well the Humble version comes with a steam key anyway, so if I needed one I would have it. I'm just not sure if I want to spend the money right now...

(Okay, I do want to, but idk if I should.)

Anyway, thanks for the rec!

Ah, but that's the thing -- you can only use one! You don't get to have both.

Gah, this is so confusing...

I miss the days when everything came on a disc. And yes I realize this is old school.

I sure don't. I'm done with the days of going through my pile of huge fucking boxes to find a disc that may or may not be there or even functional, then going through a years-long install process (if it even will still install) only to find that it doesn't work on hardware made after 1999. I put up with physical media from my console games because they're generally in small DVD cases and I don't have to fuss with them too much. But digital distribution saved PC gaming by taking 90% of the hassle out of it.

Well, okay, maybe not EVERYTHING, because yes, IDC if liking hard copies of my games and DVD/Blu-Ray's is weird in this day and age, as long as they're available I'll probably continue to buy them.

Different strokes, though. Clearly digital distribution works for loads of folks, and it can be convenient.

You missed my whole point, though. It's not really about the physical media as a principle. I'll gladly take console games on DVD or Blu-Ray, but fuck buying PC games on disc anymore. With a console game, I just pop it in and play, maybe the console goes through an automatic install process but it's relatively painless and I know it will work. With a PC game it's way more of a hassle. That and PC games are much, much cheaper bought digitally -- I could get Dark Souls for 6 bucks last month, but if I wanted the PS3 version on disc it'd cost me like $30.

I do get that, and if you have a fast connection and no issues with downloading then it is MUCH cheaper, especially if you wait a bit and don't buy immediately after release.

PC games are a hassle in general for me because I'm not knowledgeable about specs and never know if a game will run on my computer or not. (I'm aware of Can You Run It, but I don't think all indie games are included?) Plus, yes, installation is a pain in the ass.
