I agree. I've saw every LOTR movie in the theater on or around Christmas and was excited for the next one to come out. I didn't see Smaug in the theater and only care because my tradition was broken.

...Chinese food or pizza?

Both? I don't know what this means.

Don't know about the pizza, but I know that in my area, it's a popular joke/stereotype that Jews, or any non-Christians, go to a movie then eat Chinese food on Christmas Day. Maybe that's what the AYRT was referencing.

Oh, heh. The joke here is that we go to movies on Christmas to get away from extended family for a while. That might just be thing with my family.

No lie: see it in standard format. 2D, 24fps. It looks great.

I'd like to see it at 48fps 2D at some point. 48fps 3D looked... well, I have a lot to say about that, and already said it here. I'm sticking to 24fps 2D for this trilogy.

(I don't hate 48fbs/3D in general. All my Pacific Rim viewings have been 48fps 3D IMAX. FUCK YEAH AWESOME. :D But not here.)

I was a little sad that when I went to see it, it was 48fps, because I feel the 48fps feels like a very complex, well-costumed LARP. There's something about it that is too real and makes it feel not fictional enough?
