Steam sale? Also, Skyrim mods.
I found Dishonored for under $10 (which I have been hearing great things about from certain posters here on F!S for awhile, so I figured while it's cheap...), the Bioshock trilogy for something like $20 or $30, Tomb Raider (the new one), and the Skyrim Legendary game. (which I figured was worth an extra $5 to get over the basic since if either myself or my married partner liked it, we'd want the extras, so... yeah). I had a bit of splaining to do in the morning when my partner logged into Steam and saw the extra games... lol. (Not bad explaining! Just... "Um, wtf, why are there several new games in our library?" and my explaining the Steam sale.) I'm not entirely sure when I'll have time to play all these, but...
Which leads to a question! I know we have a lot of Skyrim fans here. What would you guys suggest for must-have mods? I've looked around at some of the articles for recommended mods, and most seem directed at somebody who is a much more advanced user. I'm looking mostly at graphical related mods, esp for ones that provide better looking graphics and models (particularly for female characters; most of what I have done in other games is adding different hairstyles, better make-up, different face models, etc). Not looking for anything that requires "jump in the deep end", but from looking around, it's been pretty hard to figure out what exactly fits in that category and doesn't. TY for any suggestions :)

Also dust cause it was on sale and looked neat.
As for Skyrim casual/graphical mods (I tend more towards the other kind myself honestly), I like Real rain extended, Lightning during thunder storms, Additional music project 1 and 2, The enhanced cities line, Static Mesh improvement mod (1-3), Splash of Rain, Better Dynamic Snow and the high textures pack but you probably already got those.
Oh, and here, just look at what I got.
Community seems to be down right now or I'd link you to my workshop. Expect an edit or additional reply.
Also, the most important graphical mod, the dragon improver!

And I bought Dark Souls for a couple people.
Re: Steam sale? Also, Skyrim mods.
I can't remember the aesthetic mods i use off the top of my head, but a lot of them are from here:

They're in there somewhere, textures, mods, settings, different colours for beasts.
Re: Steam sale? Also, Skyrim mods.
i have over a hundred skyrim mods installed but here are some of my favourites:
aaaaand steam crapped out again. so much for that. steam's been a pile of shit lately tbh
anyway i'd recommend going to the workshop and checking out the top rated mods, they're usually really neat. if you have a permanent place to play then nexusmods are good too, there's just a little extra effort involved in installing their mods.

if it's the workshop being fussy for you it's probably because steam in general is rubbish. i haven't had issues with workshop mods not working except in cases where i had other mods that conflicted with them. (i also have a mod installed that recently caused the atmosphere music to stop playing? and i can't figure out which one it is so that sucks but other than that they've been pretty good for me)

(Anonymous) 2014-01-07 03:33 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, Nexus Mods - I've never had an issue with steam, but I can't get Nexus to work at all. Which kind of sucks, since there are some awesome mods on there that aren't on steam. [And yeah, you have to DL the client then the mods - but it's the client that won't start up for me so, I just went with what's on Steam.]
Re: Steam sale? Also, Skyrim mods.
Okay, after being totally confused and then finding out that just by subscribing, you download them... um... is this across Steam accounts, even on another computer? Because my partner is also playing, and I'm not sure they'd be happy to find a whole bunch of mods randomly installed. LOL
Yeah, I have seen a lot of instructions for installing Nexus Mods so I've been a little wary there...
Re: Steam sale? Also, Skyrim mods.
you just click subscribe and then when skyrim starts up on the splash page you'll see at the bottom a little message that says downloading mod or something. after they download you press play and they should be working.
