Re: Steam sale? Also, Skyrim mods.

there's a good setup of nexus mods here that i think are really neat. i can't personally endorse them though since i only use mods on the steam workshop (i move around computers almost daily so nexus mods are inconvenient).

i have over a hundred skyrim mods installed but here are some of my favourites:
- space core
- all of the enhanced town mods (there's links to the others in the description)
- dragon falls manor
- auto unequip arrows (this is just an aesthetic thing imo but i find it really useful)
- followers can relax

aaaaand steam crapped out again. so much for that. steam's been a pile of shit lately tbh
anyway i'd recommend going to the workshop and checking out the top rated mods, they're usually really neat. if you have a permanent place to play then nexusmods are good too, there's just a little extra effort involved in installing their mods.

If you can get them to work. I've tried everything given to troubleshoot it and it *still* won't run for me.

nexusmods? because i've had similar issues but i'm really unfamiliar with how nexus mods work in general. you have to dl the nexus client or something and then the mods, idk. it seems like a big hassle especially for someone like me who's at university and plays in a gaming lab.

if it's the workshop being fussy for you it's probably because steam in general is rubbish. i haven't had issues with workshop mods not working except in cases where i had other mods that conflicted with them. (i also have a mod installed that recently caused the atmosphere music to stop playing? and i can't figure out which one it is so that sucks but other than that they've been pretty good for me)

AYRT [And not the OP]

Yeah, Nexus Mods - I've never had an issue with steam, but I can't get Nexus to work at all. Which kind of sucks, since there are some awesome mods on there that aren't on steam. [And yeah, you have to DL the client then the mods - but it's the client that won't start up for me so, I just went with what's on Steam.]

... I didn't even know there was such a thing as Steam Workshop.

Okay, after being totally confused and then finding out that just by subscribing, you download them... um... is this across Steam accounts, even on another computer? Because my partner is also playing, and I'm not sure they'd be happy to find a whole bunch of mods randomly installed. LOL

Yeah, I have seen a lot of instructions for installing Nexus Mods so I've been a little wary there...

it's not across accounts, as far as i'm aware, but it is stored in the steam cloud (i guess?) so even if you play on a different computer the mods will install on that computer when you start up skyrim. but i think it stays on your account specifically. if your partner has their own account then i they shouldn't end up with those mods.

you just click subscribe and then when skyrim starts up on the splash page you'll see at the bottom a little message that says downloading mod or something. after they download you press play and they should be working.

Sorry, that's what I meant. Whee medication. I meant that every user on the Steam account would have those mods, which sounds like is the case (much like the Curse client... unfortunately, unlike Curse, which is $30 a year, Steam is ... far too expensive to have separate copies of the games for my partner and myself, especially when they are new games).

yep, but there's a super easy way to get around the hassle if your partner doesn't want them. on the splash page there's a link that says "data files" i think. if you click on it it'll show you a list of the mods you've downloaded through the workshop. you and anybody else that uses the steam account can enable and disable them whenever you want.
