Re: How is the cold treating you?

We're fine, but the dog is having a pretty miserable time of it when she needs to go out to do her business. The extreme chill is making walking outside hurt her paws, and at one point she wouldn't/couldn't move until someone tried to carry her. (Keyword being 'tried'- this is a fairly large dog we're talking about here and neither of us have that kind of upper body strength. It ultimately ended up as a sort of awkward hug/carry/drag.)

We tried improvising some dog booties, but they didn't really work so all we can do until the pet stores reopen is to treat her paws with balm before and after.

My dog's been having the same problem with his paws, I had to carry him in a couple times (luckily mine's a tiny thing). He has some dog booties we bought him last year but he kicks them off so we bought him a new pair that had a zipper and so far they seem to do the trick. The downside is that now instead of pathetically lifting up his paws and giving me the 'My paws are cold ):" look, he occasionally lifts one paw and gives me the mildly resentful "You put me in dog boots ):" look.

Poor puppy. I wonder if Vaseline on the paw pads would help.
