I am going to my first gynecological visit at the end of February (I think I have a bartholin gland cyst). Can I mention to her my depression and the fact my skin has been itchy for a very long time (back/arms/legs)? I don't have a family doctor and this is honestly my first doctor visit in two years or so.

I would say you definitely should! The issue is that the gyno probably won't be able to do much; this just isn't their job. You can probably get them to suggest someone to you, though.

Thanks for the advice! Hopefully they can recommend something. I have talked to some friends and they all highly recommend this doctor!

I agree with chard. Also, the gyno might need to prescribe antibiotics if you do have a bartholin cyst, esp. if they have to drain it. They'll need to know about your medical history and present state so they don't prescribe something that could exacerbate existing issues.

I'm sorry to hear you have a cyst :( I get cysts in my pubic region sometimes and they are the absolute worst. Ironically, the only one that was technically a bartholin cyst was the most mild of them, but I gather from my gyno that mine was an uncommon experience. I hope your gyno helps and you're cyst free soon!

I think that is what it is. It seems to be in the right area. And it doesn't really hurt unless I poke it! So it isn't that bothersome. Just something I want to get checked out.

Sure can! The doc may or not be able to help, BUT the doc can provide resources/referrals, and give you some places to start. Also, since this is something that's not as much talked about, I would ask if your depression at all coincides with your cycle (or lack of one, if you are irregular) -- I have PMDD and PCOS and the nasty combination of that meant I was massively depressed all the time. Took awhile to find the right birth control but once I did, it worked wonders.
