Agreed. That was the absolute worst. I think partly because Hedwig was totally innocent, a beloved pet and friend, etc., but also because I was bracing for character deaths and completely did not see that one coming. Seriously, 3am the night of the book release, I'm sitting on the couch ugly-sobbing while trying not to wake my husband with my breakdown. Fucking Rowling, man.

I don't know why I did, but I fully expected Hedwig to be killed off, and it still sucked
