The first time I saw Pacific Rim, I thought the fact that Raleigh and douchebag Australian looked so similar was a plot point, like Chuck was a clone. Couldn't tell them apart unless one of them was speaking.

*Google image searches to confirm memory*

I'm so confused by this. I don't think they look similar at all...? Chuck looks kinda like Ben Browder with a stronger jaw, and Raleigh is a dead ringer for Heath Ledger. But I don't see how they look like each other...

I'm pretty sure it was a plot point, considering Chuck was basically Raleigh pre-brother death. They were foils for each other, because Raleigh got to mature and actually learn from his shit, where Chuck didn't.

I couldn't tell them apart at all (except their accents), I probably couldn't if I watched it again either...

That happens a lot to me in films where two characters look similar, which reminds me of a film where one of the guys was bad cop but acted good and the other one was good cop, but acted like a bad cop and I spent the whole film trying to figure out which one of them was on the screen at any time, because they looked exactly the same!

don't get me started on Inception, I still have no idea which one is which, and I did see it twice, just to try to figure it out. Only thing I know is that one of them looks hella fine in a suit.

Wait... how? JGL, Cillian Murphy, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, and Dileep Rao look nothing alike.

Thinking Javier Bardem and Jeffrey Dean Morgan look alike? I get that. But the guys in Inception look so different, I'm kind of baffled.

Inception was a completely different point, which clearly did not come out clear enough. The characters had no personality and I don't know which one is which, the story was bad and yes I mixed up like 3 of the main characters because to me they look similar.

I also don't recognize my favorite characters out of character if I don't spend some time to get to know the "real" them and even then I might not recognize them in another film or television show. It is partly because I am not really that visual* person and that I don't especially pay attention to the screen the first and/or second time I watch something.

So yes, to me they look similar...

*Which probably goes back to the fact that I lack the ability to close my eyes and picture something.
