There are actual ice hotels in cold places (I think there's one in Sweden or Finland, and I forgot what it was called). I assume there is food for the people and places to pee.

...I just assumed she made a bathroom that had an open hole to let it out. And that she had snow creations that she'd use to gather food.

Idk how she cook it though.

Not to let it out... to LET IT GO!

She didn't think that far ahead...she probably would have found food in the end (or panicked and started more snow upon realizing how unprepared she was)

i'm still plagued by the thought kritoff and the rest of the ice selling ppl of the region may not have a business anymore.

I like to think that Elsa could make snow if she wanted but wouldn't put people of her kingdom out of business.

The ice still needs to be sold and transported, it's just going to be easier to get.

Well, Kristoff was designated as the official/head ice deliverer for Arendelle at the end, or something, so I'd guess that Elsa just made it easier for the ice harvesters; she makes it, and they transport it. Hell, maybe she's even capable of making ice blocks that would be able to travel long distances, creating a market that sells ice all over the world, keeping the original harvesters in business.

I don't think she actually needs to.

I mean, consider the temperatures she survived in in a dress MADE OUT OF ICE MAGIC.

I'm betting after she stopped eating, she realized it didn't affect her much at all. Like, maybe a little recogniztion of an empty belly, but nothing beyond a growling tummy every so often. No lethargy or starvation or anything. Her magic sustains her. I'm betting she doesn't even need to sleep as much (but still ca and eventually would go mad without it for the mental reasons) as normal people.

I'm just amazed she knew enough about architecture to build it in the first place.

While I doubt a bathroom existed upon the castle's initial creation, I think that she would have made one as the need arose. I'm not sure how she'd do a kitchen purely out of ice though... she'd have to have one of her creations steal a stove or something and bring it to the castle if she wanted anything that was cooked (or wasn't also stolen). As long as she got something with legs that were insulated from the heat and kept an eye on it when it was hot, she could probably have one, even in room made of ice.

Of course, then you have to ask: does she even know HOW to cook?

I think about silly stuff like this too, it's not overly distracting but it does bug me a bit. But I also know that in movie and TV land no one needs to go to the bathroom anyway.

She would eat ice? And have a bathroom made of ice? Or hey, there's also the possibility of her sneaking back into the castle to use the bathroom and assault the kitchens. The third option would be creating the first Arendelle's take-out food. See, she would not only be creating castles, she would also be creating jobs!

Wait, how did the movie negate those problems? Did they specifically address that? Genuinely curious because those questions have been circling my brain as well.

She eats snow and pees on the hill right next to her ice palace. Or maybe around her palace, like a yellow snow moat to ward off trespassers.

I'm just confused how she made a palace made entirely of ice and the floor wasn't at all slippery. I can probably excuse Elsa not being affected "coz magic" but Anna didn't seem unstable on it at all either.

Thank you! I've been wondering about that ever since I saw the movie.

The food thing occurred to me, but also when I saw that her dress was made of ice my very mature initial response was "OH MY GOD HER SNATCH MUST BE SO COLD." But I guess she wouldn't feel anything because of the magic or whatever, now that I think about it.

Don't be silly, Disney princesses don't pee.

She could have sent her snow minions out to pick her up some grub, and who knows maybe there's some yellow snow around the back side of her palace.

I like to think of it as "Elsa didn't think about it". Like as powerful and "FUCK IT ALLLLL!" as Let It Go is, it's really only the halfway point in Elsa's development (suffocated and alone => free and alone => free and with others).

One of my favorites scenes is actually after Anna/Elsa's confrontation and before Hans' siege, when she's pacing back and forth and - despite her earlier statements in Let It Go - has actually fallen back on her mantra of "conceal, don't feel". And she looks up and you can see the realization in her face that nothing's really changed.

So I see her whole ice palace as an extension of that. A burst of creative energy and drive and "ooh won't this look cool" followed by "well, now what." Lack of toilets and food preparation are just one part of Elsa's masterly thought out plan which can be summarized as:

1. Run away
2. Make a whole bunch of cool shit with ice
3. ???
4. PROFIT!!!

(Anonymous) 2014-01-10 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if it were me, I'd use my ice magic to make a snow toilet and then roll that sumbitch out of my ice palace when I was done with it off the fucking cliff behind me.
