Okay, two things.

1) masturbating like that is actually terrible for your back and body in general, and you can damage yourself that way.

2) that's not an orgasm

I know that none of those things are encouraging, but you should consider watching some videos by my good friend at Sexplanations (youtube), or seeing a sex therapist in person. You're not alone, OP. A lot of women don't know how to give themselves orgasms properly and are pretty bad at getting themselves aroused as well. It's nothing to be ashamed about, but something you may wish to work on if it's bothersome to you in your sexual relationships.

How do you damage yourself? Genuinely curious. I've been masturbating like that since I was 11 (I'm 24 now) and I've never hurt my back or anything else.

(and before anyone replies, "your clit gets less sensitive!" that's not true for me, I can masturbate the "normal" way but I come quicker on my stomach *shrug*)

Has nothing to do with sensitivity, everything to do with the fact that if you thrust your hips when you do it and you are laying against a flat surface, you can pull muscles and throw joints out because of the way female hips are tilted (anterior, rather than laying mainly flat with the spine).

But if I thrust my hips like that when I'm in missionary position how is it different when I'm lying prone on the bed? It's the same muscles afaik.

(again no disrespect. I really am curious!)

Well, think about it in terms of physics. You're not experiencing any resistance forces if you're just thrusting into air, and you have support under your hips as well (think of the reasoning behind putting a pillow under the woman's hips in missionary position during heterosexual intercourse). Like I said, it's a lot to do with the way your hips meet with your spine and how it can get pulled when you're trying to grind downward against a flat surface.

I suggest you read dodsonandross.org

They have insightful commentary on how a particular masturbation style makes it difficult to replicate during sex. This article is also very helpful (http://dodsonandross.com/blogs/betty-dodson/2010/05/learn-new-orgasm-how-upgrade-your-masturbation-technique).
