Do you ever wonder if fictional species pee/poop?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's never mentioned in most things, but I usually assume they do if they have to eat. But then I wonder if different species have different types of poop because of what they eat (like how a horse has a different kind of poop from a cat, etc.).

Do you ever think about this stuff?

Of the Teenage Mutant Ninja variety or your general run of the mill normal turtle?

Yeah, the scene in the movie of The Hobbit where the elves serve the dwarves salad or whatever, and the dwarves obviously aren't used to it made me wonder. Do dwarves and elves have different poop? Do elves always have sticky green poop, like that Anon who claimed to after eating too much spinach? Does dwarf poop smell worse, the way cat and dog poop smells worse than horse or cow poop?

I wonder more about periods.

I wonder about this all the time, particularly for any adventure or survival or any kind of travel story.

I wonder about contact lenses, especially ones that need a special solution or disposable ones that won't last indefinitely.

I am constantly intrigued by the bodily functions of vampires.

In Guillermo del Toro's books, vampires spray a horrible ammonia-heavy liquid shit everywhere. It's amazing.

I'm mostly interested in their boners. Because when they're starved on blood, they probably can't get it up, but when they're full of blood, they cnn't get it down, or something.

Transformers.

Although I guess that might be more along the lines of exhaust than excretion.

Don't most of the canons generally have them burning some sort of relatively clean energy source/ whatever the hell sparks are? In which case most exhaust would likely be vapor and dependent on the chemical makeup of the fuel and the method of burning, but various oils and fluids would probably have to be replaced every so often in order to avoid damage, like a car. I suppose that counts.

Gargolyes, from the animated show. When they were living in the castle, I assumed Xanatos had facilities for them, but when they moved to the clocktower, I was plagued with wondering where they pooped and bathed, or if they didn't even have to because all of waste and dirt and bacteria was shed with the stone shards every night when they woke up. Which is possible, because they were stone all the way through, and the process was already proven to have extraordinary healing properties, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it had even more functions.

Atlanteans, from Young Justice. They're people who breathe, travel, and even eat underwater at all times, and I can't imagine they excrete right where they float like fish do, so where and how do they go? And how do they keep it from drifting away and tainting the area? Atlantis is an advanced city, so they must have sewers and sewage treatment, but they're always underwater. It just bugs me.

I've been wondering about the lemon people from Adventure Time ever since that episode where there are toilets in the background that are also citrus juicers.

I also wonder about Ariel when she turns into a human. Does she pee and poop like a human or a fish when she's a mermaid (I would assume like a fish, but you never know)? It seems unlikely that they would have toilets under the sea so is she soiling herself or is she running out to the ocean every time she needs to do her business when she's human until someone explains it to her?
