I agree, but without it I don't think we would have got Spike's "You're a hell of a woman" speech, which never fails to bring me to tears.

Yes! That was an amazing moment and one of my favorites scenes.

IA that the speech was great, but that actually just irritated me MORE. It was like, the only reason the writers pulled that shit was to create a scenario where Spike could give that speech, even though the scenario itself was infuriating and made no sense and damaged the other characters so much. It was so damn lazy.

Couldn't he have given her the speech even if she didn't get kicked out? At least a close version of it...

I am still angry at them for kicking Buffy out of her own house, I probably should get over that at some point in my life: "But today is not the day gif."

Yeah I know! It seemed like whole thing was just for cheap drama.

There are so many fictional events that I am still so not over even years, it's sort of ridiculous. :)

Yup, and what kind of friends think they have the authority to kick someone out of their own house?

Nah, it is completely justified! :)

IMO almost everything that made the other characters look bad was engineered to make Spike look good as he was the fans' and writers' darling.
Hence the fact that s6/7 made zero sense.

Pretty much this.
