Re: If you could delete just one incident from a canon, what would it be?
You don't annoy at all, because I could talk for days about how much I hate them, lol. Actually, considering Tobi's storyline owes a lot to the glorification of the Uchiha that ruined so much of Part II, it's more accurate to say I'd change that instead of just Tobi's character alone. Take away the Uchiha worship and you lose the Tobi bullshit, Itachi becoming a saint (he murdered his entire bloodline because he's so pure-hearted, seriously), Madara becoming an unstoppable god, the Sharingan going from copying jutsu to...all that other magical shit, and so much more.
Re: If you could delete just one incident from a canon, what would it be?
(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 02:08 am (UTC)(link)Thank goodness, I thought it was getting annoying because I bring it up quite often. Plus going on and on about characters you hate is just grating and I swear I usually hate character bashing but goddamn those fucking Uchihas. I don't think I wouldn't have minded them so much if the storyline didn't bend over backwards to try and paint them as some misunderstood woobies or if the focus wasn't so much on them.
Itachi was so much better when his motives for the slaughter were hazy at best. I'll take him doing it just because over the bullshit we got. And Tobi would have been so much better if he was just some random guy. Tobi was funny and fine before it was revealed he was Obito and was doing this because he was upset about Rin.
I don't what I dislike more Madara being an unstoppable, some kind of Super Uchiha or fandom worshipping him and his overpowered ass. It is like the shit with Aizen all over again.
Re: If you could delete just one incident from a canon, what would it be?
It's more like concept bashing than character bashing. Like, the Uchiha characters were totally fine in Part I and early on in Part II, and then things veered off into a ravine. Making them the scourge of the earth and then telling us we should feel bad for them or adore their awesomeness just rubs me the wrong way. Everything in the story indicates the ninja world would objectively be a better place right now if all the Uchiha had been wiped out back in Madara's day...all because Kishimoto had to make them the cornerstone of the story. I mean, not even Naruto's Uzumaki heritage gets so much panel time, and he's the main character!
I did sort of like Itachi's reveal as more complex than just a paper-thin villain, but the story took it waaaaay too far in the other direction, and then added insult to injury by making Sasuke fall in love with him like an idiot. "Sure, bro, you orphaned me and tried to mind-control me into a psychopath, but you had good intentions, so I forgive you!" My eyes almost crossed with rage.
Haha, Aizen is so infamous that I know about him without even being into Bleach. What is with characters like that? I don't even care how they beat Madara anymore (probably with Super Saiyan Sharingan or some shit).
Re: If you could delete just one incident from a canon, what would it be?
(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 03:01 am (UTC)(link)I'm glad that the creators of Leverage handled it better. I might have to check out the show.
I suppose it is more of a concept bashing instead of straight up character bashing like you said, but I still feel a bit hypocritical. The Uchiha were alright for part of the series and the massacre of them had a lot of potential, but it was just utterly squandered. Everything bad that happens to them is because they love too much or some bullshit. Don't get me wrong, the reveal that Itachi was a bit more complex would have been okay if hadn't gone so far into the other direction that it made me long for the days when he it looked like he did it for the hell of it. And Sasuke forgivong him so easily was just shit icing on the shit cake. Just wow. You're going to forgive him for all that manipulation and genocide just because he had good intentions? Wow. Not to mention his brilliant idea to take away from the whole experience that he should destroy Konoha. That's null now since he wants to be Hokage now. Which is another level of "what the fuck Kishimoto?"
They probably should have gotten rid of all the Uchiha if they all go evil at the drop of a goddamn pin.
I don't even know. I can't stand characters like Aizen. Chessmasters are fine, but Aizen was just ridiculous. I half expect for Super Saiyan Sharingan to happen at this at this point.
Re: If you could delete just one incident from a canon, what would it be?
You totally should! Leverage is boss, and it doesn't suffer from any of the story decay most shows do. It's up on Netflix Instant if you can access the service.
I agree, I do long for the days when Saint Itachi was just some sociopath; simpler times. I swear Kishimoto is literally just making shit up when it comes to Sasuke. I keep getting the feeling that he hasn't had any idea what to do with the kid since Itachi bought the farm, and this mess with him randomly going from wanting to kill everyone to wanting to be Hokage just confirms it. Kishimoto should have come up with a better reason for Sasuke to get back with his team looooong before now. Like I always say, his pacing is terrible, even when he's being predictable.
Yeah, I understand, but it's so hard to feel any differently because it's such bad writing. Hahaha, oh my god, the Uchiha are all crazy because of love. I swear that was the most absurd reveal I'd seen in a shounen manga in a long time, and I sometimes read One Piece. How the hell does that explain Madara? If we don't see Naruto Talk no Jutsu Madara into admitting he's a nutcase because of all these centuries of unrequited love for Hashirama, I'll be very disappointed.
Re: If you could delete just one incident from a canon, what would it be?
(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 05:02 am (UTC)(link)I'm glad to hear that it is a good show and doesn't suffer from seasonal decay. A lot of longrunning shows do and it rare to find one that doesn't. Don't have Netflix, but I will figure out a way to watch it. I think TNT has episodes to watch on their site.
I think it would be easier to say that Kishimoto is and for the most part, always has been making up shit as he went along. He may have had a plan for the Sasuke and Itachi storyling during the beginning of part two, but it either fell apart or he got his head so far up the Uchiha's asses he couldn't see clearly.
Thank you. That makes me feel a bit better about my thoughts on the Uchihas. And that reveal, my god. I don't think anything will be able to top that for me for a while. But I won't be surprised if Kishimoto manages to do it before this damn manga ends. Madara being in love with Hashirama and it being unrequited is the only thing that will make Madara's motovations make any bit of sense. I can't read it as anything else and I don't even have my shipping goggles on.
