The downside of being practical is that it's kind of hard to harmlessly fantasize about hot men. You're always like, 'I'm never going to meet this person and it's silly to be so invested in them.' which takes away a large part of the fun. Learn to let go of your practical side, OP, and fangirl/fantasize away.

This is why gay actors stay closeted.

I'm not sure I follow. Can you explain?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not that complicated =- gay actors think they won't get cast for roles because the higher ups think the entire female audience won't fantasize about a homosexual.

Given the tons of slash fanfic out there, the ship wars, and the fact that some shows have acknowledged slash in-universe (Supernatural), it's not that obvious.

Higher ups don't know much about ladyfolk then, do they...

(Anonymous) 2014-01-11 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. That's definitely congruent with observed reality, at least.

LMAO, as a gay person myself I'm gonna say there's a truckload of reasons for staying closeted *not* related to iceyred's admonition to fantasise a lil more.

So it's all the fangirls' fault, is that what you're saying?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-12 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
No, of course not. But it certainly contributes to it.

Whaaaaat.
