Cloud/Barret, Final Fantasy VII. The only "canon" gay relationship in the series, but no one considers it and newfans aren't even aware that it's a date option.

As for pairings that are more popular than I would've thought are.. most pairings. lol When I have an OTP, it always seems so obvious to me that I can't imagine why people have other ships. haha

Cloud/Barret does need more love. I still remember being so surprised that it existed in game and then finding hardly anything for the ship.

I can say that even though it's "canon" gay, I personally never really liked Barret as a character, so that would put a serious damper on my desire to ship with Cloud, whom I like very much.

I agree with you there.

Besides, the actual date scene for them is more Barret saying "WTF is wrong with you? You have three pretty girls who would have gone out with you but you ignore them and end up with me?! Seriously, WTF is wrong with you? This isn't some trick because you're interested in Marlene is it? Dammit! Shut up you stupid fireworks!"

The idea Cloud can get a date with him is hilarious in theory, but the actual date scene comes off totally platonic.
