at the very beginning I thought Scott/Stiles would be the most popular slash pairing in teen wolf or maybe even Scott/Derek. I...have never been more wrong. I severely underestimated how much fandom enjoys the whole snarky and broody combination or how lukewarm much of fandom would be towards Scott's character

Mte. I can't find any good Scott/Derek. To me, it makes way more sense than Sterek, but Stiles is the fandom darling and Derek is the king of brooding.

I haven't clicked on it, but the last couple times I've checked over at ao3 there have been Scott/Derek stories popping up. Mostly pwps from the looks of it, but still something exists!

I only like Scott/Derek if it's got canon divergence before the whole non-con bite Gerard thing. I hate that scene for ruining that pairing for me.

Really? I need to recheck ao3 then!

I think most fanon or canon ships on Teen Wolf have problems, so the whole Gerard bite doesn't bother me.

Ugh, so many problems! Which is why it's totally weird that the Gerard bite is apparently where I cross a line. The brain wants what it wants...or doesn't want?

Pretty much this. And Derek is basically Anthropomorphic Problems. Not saying he deserved to be used there, but he's kind of way abusive, homicidal, and bullying so much that I don't exactly feel bad for him about that.

Yeah. Derek has done some really sketchy things, so I'm not exactly pulling out the comfort blanket for him.

Derek had such a huge "I wish kouhai would notice me" problem/boner in season one. I thought for SURE fandom would jump on it.

I get the appeal of Sterek, but I wish fandom picked up on the Scerek more. I am such an entitled fic reader, haha.

I understand the appeal (snarky human vs "broody" werewolf, a powerful dude paired with a geeky dude is such a common trope) but a lot of the traits fandom gives Stiles (selfless, tries to help everyone, bluh bluh) are actually Scott traits! And I'm like HEY GUYS WAIT A SEC.

I'm such a bitter ex-Derek/Stiles stan, h-hahaha.

That bothers me SO MUCH. Especially when they start shitting on Scott for the exact traits they imbued in Stiles. I love them both, so the hate for Scott makes me sad. (Also I don't like pack!mom Stiles. I just can't see it. Stiles is a dick and kinda wished death on all werewolves but Scott for two seasons).

I was never a Sterek stan. I jumped on the fanfic bandwagon too late and by then fandom had destroyed Sterek for me. I have read some Sterek fics and don't mind them, but I find other fics and character interplays more interesting. (What made you an ex-Derek/Stiles fan, if you don't mind me asking?)

oh man, this. packmom stiles is probably the most OOC thing in the fandom. I've read fics where Stiles cooks dinner for the entire pack every night and kisses their boo boos and constantly acts as the long suffering but good natured peacemaker whenever the others start bickering and it's the most hilarious thing I've ever read. it's like people are literally watching a different show

I can't stand that. I'm like "where is Stiles? What have you done with him?" You know Stiles would be the one who started the bickering in the first place.

Like, if I see someone hate on Scott, I immediate (immediately) write off everything they have to say. It's ridiculous and probably not fair but that's just the way it is. XD

Look, I was such a Derek/Stiles shipper that I wrote pack!mom Stiles. ;;;; I mean, it wasn't as far as a lot of fics go with that kind of thing but it was there. It's still on AO3. I can't bring myself to get rid of it because I still get kudos on it. ;;;;;

I fell out of love for the ship after too much interaction with fandom. XD I was getting tired of people shitting on Scott, acting like Derek/Stiles are oh so canon or going to be endgame, and hating on Jeff Davis because he's not catering to their wants (and I don't think highly of Davis but he in no way owes this fandom Sterek). Not to mention the fact that everyone seems to be interested in writing versions of Derek and Stiles that are so far from what I see when I watch this show that I don't even really recognize the characters. I mean, there are Sterek fics that I like but they read more like original fiction, you know? I don't know. This fandom, man.

If people hate Scott, I can't help but side-eye them a bit, even if we agree on other aspects of the show.

Yeah. I'm usually good with fandom not destroying a ship or character for me, but Sterek can really tip me over the edge. It can be a really nasty area to tread into if you like anyone besides Stiles or Derek.

Sterek fans can be really... intense, for lack of a gentler word. For a show with such silly beginnings, it really brought out the worst in people.

I've found that the older I get (haha, I only turn 28 next month but I've been in fandom since I was 13 so it's been a while!) the more likely I am to quit ships or characters if the fandom surrounding them is obnoxious. I have no stamina for bullshit anymore, I guess. ;;;;

Aw, you're nice. They can be pretty damn batshit. There's this one person on tumblr who identifies with Derek/Sterek so freaking much and I both love and hate reading their meta because holy jeeez, it's a trainwreck. WAY TOO INVESTED, HAHAHA.

I find that my tolerance for bull in fandom is lower as well. I hit the eject button a lot faster now. I don't have time to re-listen to all the fandom squabbles that existed when I was a kid. (I've been in fandom since I was 13 too. Will be 26 in day. It feels so long ago now. So many fandom wanks.) But, I do still check fandomwank, I can't lie, haha.

Who is the person/link to the meta? I like to stay out of the wank... but sometimes reading the crazy can be way too much fun, hahaha.

P.S. I finished the 80k fic (I am low on sleep today, oops) and NOOOOOO WHY DID IT END THE WAY IT DID?? It's real to life and fits the show perfectly, but it still makes me sad Scott and Derek didn't run off into the sunset together and form another wolf pack. Why is there no sequel ;____;

I was, honestly, initially drawn to Scott/Derek. But, for whatever reason, Scott reads as the straightest guy ever to me. So I ship him with Lydia, instead, haha, and maybe Kira, I guess we'll see how that goes.

I am here for Scott/Lydia too. Especially season one them. I'm way more hft than Stiles/Lydia.

I hope Kira is a good love interest for Scott. She seems pretty cool so far, so hopefully she'll continue in that vein.
