That's actually one of my favourite stories and I always feel like I can't say it because I remember the reaction at the time (in fandom) to the second part in particular being pretty negative.

But I always love stories that involve religious or supernatural figures that might actually ambiguously be whatever they claim to be - I'm not sure if I think the Beast actually is the devil, but I really enjoyed the way it was left up to you and not even The Doctor was sure at one point.
