Dr. Watson/Sir Henry Baskerville from Sherlock Holmes. Watson was so obviously smitten with him and his fiery eyes and stuff. And he was talking about how he would be, like, honored to die for him about two days after he first met him. This kind of thing seems par the course for Watson (see also: Mary Morstan).

I never thought of Watson/Henry Baskerville, until one friend send me a fic which had it as a pairing with end-game Holmes/Watson. I ended up liking the Watson/Henry -parts way more than Holmes/Watson. I'm sad to hear it's not popular. :(

OMG YES. And such a convenient canon situation for the pairing too! Not to mention, if you don't want it to be endgame, it could totally be full of Holmes getting progressively more jealous as Watson's letters come in.
