Ew. Really? This show would be terrible. She was literally the least interesting part of that movie. Her only personality was the shallow beautiful love interest. What is it going to be 45 mins of her pouting at the camera while men do all the action? Maybe a few 'Sassy' one liners to show how she's so strong and badass before she goes needs to be rescued or something?

Just ew.

Also, I think a show about stark would have been much better.

I...kind of agree, but kind of don't. I really don't like her character (at all), but I wouldn't say she's shallow, or sits around pouting. She definitely gets shit done. I just don't understand how she's so popular with the fandom. Your line about her "sassy" one liners that are meant to show how badass she is really illustrates the problems I have with her. Like the parts where she punches a trainee for being a sexist dick. Apparently that's what makes her "cool" for a lot of people, but I just saw it as someone abusing their power over someone of lesser rank. They couldn't have come up with a less cliche way to show she belongs in the military, maybe something that doesn't resort to her hitting subordinates? And don't get me started on the part where she fires a bunch of shots at an untested shield that easily could have harmed Steve because she was pissed off and jealous. Yay for girl power, I guess. I'm just glad I'm not the only person in the fandom who doesn't think she's amazing, lol.

Re: her treatment of subordinates, keep in mind the time period. Taken from a modern standpoint, with our sensibilities of what is and isn't appropriate, yeah, it was unnecessary abuse of power. In the period the character was situated in, from a social perspective, not so much.

I agree with the shield thing being ridiculous, but I will never understand why so many people expect characters in period pieces to behave and react like people from the modern era. (And frequently like modern paragons of social virtue, at that.)

I don't want a modern paragon of social virtue. I want a good, well-rounded character. I felt like the writers tried waaaay too hard to make her a "strong female character," and the character as a whole suffered for it. If they want us to believe she's a professional, have her act like one.

And quite frankly, "it was the time period" is not a valid excuse where fiction is concerned. If I saw a movie that takes place in an earlier time period where a character slaps his wife, or a man beats a slave, or a group of soldiers slaughter a whole village, etc., I would automatically think less of him, even though society at the time was much more forgiving of those actions. Obviously, as modern viewers our values are different from how things were in the past, and they color our actions and opinions. Peggy (obviously) isn't a real person. The writers chose to put her in that situation, chose to make her punch that guy when she could have reacted differently. Punching a man in the face is not the only response you can give when you're confronted with sexism, whether it be in 2014 or 1941.

She's still in a fictional universe where sexism is very much present. If you've seen the Agent Carter one-shot, you'd know the post-war "get back to the kitchen, the boys are back" attitude was still very much part of the era. She had to assert her authority and earn the respect of her recruits in the quickest way possible. Was she supposed to make Hodge run laps or whatever after he insulted her and sexually harassed her? Please.

Additionally, have you had any sort of military training? It's not uncommon, for this to happen in modern day. So sit down.
