You're not alone, OP!

I watched it once, just to see what happened, and then promptly deleted it from my head-canon. If you enjoy McShep, I recommend "Written By The Victors" by Speranza - I've adopted it as my personal head-canon of what really happened at the end of s5, and it fixes several issues I had with

John had been hunched over his laptop for hours, slowly typing out his thoughts. He had struggled over every word: changing, deleting, undeleting. He'd tried to find polite ways of saying, "Look, you don't get it. These bastards eat people," and "I can't go. Don't you see? I started it," and then he had given up on being polite. It had gone a lot faster then.

and

"I don't expect you to understand this. You can't love a city where you've never lived. But we are part of Atlantis now. Pegasus is in our blood. I don't expect you to understand that either: you would have to have walked through every gate with us. But I cannot leave these people, because they are my people now."

You know, I'm not trying to start a fight here, but I've read that, and I don't really care for it all that much. And I did read quite a lot of McShep back in the day. Maybe I would have liked it better if it hadn't been so obvious that the writer didn't like Elizabeth (and the whole arranged political marriage between John and Teyla was a little offputting too), but...eh. I don't know. I just don't think it's to everyone's tastes. Just...my two fractions of cents.

The John/Teyla thing completely RUINED it for me, and I practically worship Esperanza.

YMMV. I really like it, you don't, different strokes for different folks. :)

Several issues I had with...

...Atlantis leaving the Pegasus galaxy and going back to earth. I swear I thought I finished writing that sentence, but then I searched through the fic for the lines I wanted to quote, and then I started rereading and yeah. In my heart I can't stand the thought of the city of Atlantis leaving the Pegasus galaxy, and this fic so far best put into words what I was feeling.
