Are you me, OP? I still haven't watched the last two episodes, actually. I'm not sure now if I ever will. I keep thinking I should probably sell my DVDs, but I haven't been able to do it yet.

If you liked Sheppard you should watch the second to last one, Vegas. It actually doesn't have much to do with the finale, it's an AU.

I haven't watched the last few episodes either. I didn't want to see the writers try and tie up loose ends. The loose ends were where everything I loved in that fandom came from in the first place!

I have vague memories of this show, man. Mainly because I couldn't really tell it apart from the other action/sci-fi spaceship shows back then. I just remember it as being the first thing I ever saw Jason Momoa in.

I loved the first three seasons. It went downhill fast after they killed off Weir, though. Carter didn't quite fit, and it became even more the McKay and Shepherd can do no wrong show. I've only watched parts of the last season, and while I actually thought Woolsey worked well, it still wasn't the show it used to be.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
I never liked Weir much, but I sure missed her a lot when Keller was brought in to be the number one female.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-12 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It was. Definitely disappointing. I still love the first three or so seasons and will forever have a place in my heart, but that final season was just awful, and the finale continued with that awfulness.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I had no issue with Weir being gone, but killing her off and Beckett too and replacing them with Keller was awful. I did love the McShep show, so that sustained me.

Oh Atlantis.

It... it didn't even try, did it?

I didn't dislike the finale all that much but it is disappointing, but hell even the bad bits of that show will have a special place in my heart.

Pretty much. Even when Atlantis was bad I still adored it more than most shows. I have a soft spot for it.

And I don't think the finale was THAT bad tbh, though I certainly wouldn't call it great either and understand the disappointment. Still, it leaves plenty of room for people to head-canon the teams futures.

It will always be my favorite show. Sheppard will always be my favorite character. Back when SciFi was sci-fi.

I haven't watched the final episodes of Stargate: Universe even though I have them on DVD. Same with Xena: Warrior Princess. If I watch the episodes, then it's really over.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have never watched a single episode of Universe and never will. Doesn't even deserve the name Stargate. Pure garbage.

You're not alone, OP!

[personal profile] brynspikess 2014-01-13 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I watched it once, just to see what happened, and then promptly deleted it from my head-canon. If you enjoy McShep, I recommend "Written By The Victors" by Speranza - I've adopted it as my personal head-canon of what really happened at the end of s5, and it fixes several issues I had with

John had been hunched over his laptop for hours, slowly typing out his thoughts. He had struggled over every word: changing, deleting, undeleting. He'd tried to find polite ways of saying, "Look, you don't get it. These bastards eat people," and "I can't go. Don't you see? I started it," and then he had given up on being polite. It had gone a lot faster then.

and

"I don't expect you to understand this. You can't love a city where you've never lived. But we are part of Atlantis now. Pegasus is in our blood. I don't expect you to understand that either: you would have to have walked through every gate with us. But I cannot leave these people, because they are my people now."

You know, I'm not trying to start a fight here, but I've read that, and I don't really care for it all that much. And I did read quite a lot of McShep back in the day. Maybe I would have liked it better if it hadn't been so obvious that the writer didn't like Elizabeth (and the whole arranged political marriage between John and Teyla was a little offputting too), but...eh. I don't know. I just don't think it's to everyone's tastes. Just...my two fractions of cents.

Several issues I had with...

[personal profile] brynspikess 2014-01-13 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
...Atlantis leaving the Pegasus galaxy and going back to earth. I swear I thought I finished writing that sentence, but then I searched through the fic for the lines I wanted to quote, and then I started rereading and yeah. In my heart I can't stand the thought of the city of Atlantis leaving the Pegasus galaxy, and this fic so far best put into words what I was feeling.

Jason Mamoa (sp?) is sooooo fine, but I shipped John with Rodney, which proves that slash isn't all about pairing the hottest guys on the show.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
It's about shipping white guys!

To be honest! I really don't believe this "people only ship white dudes" but... yeah.

This show is my main fandom, and the source of my OTP. It's campy and ridiculous, and it does have its problems, but I think it's fun and so much of the fic for the show is amazing. Season five was pretty bad, but it had some good episodes. I've seen the finale only once; not so much because it sucks, but because it pains my heart to know it's the last episode.

It's all good, OP. There are some eps of SGA I still haven't seen.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Good for you! It's still my favorite show and I'm not too proud to admit it! (I think today some people deny they liked it because they think it makes them cool to look down on it. It was fun) The only episode I've never seen was Brainstorm.

I loved this show immensely, but haven't rewatched. The McKeller in the last season makes me ill. I'd forward all the scenes with them in it if I did. That said, The Shrine and Vegas are my favorite episodes of the series and they both occurred in Season 5.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-16 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. /still bitter about McKeller
