Notes:
Tumblr and/or social justice in and of themselves aren't fandoms, unfortunately.

Re: Small things in fic that drive you insane
(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 02:10 am (UTC)(link)I'm sure it depends on the fandom and the characters, but for my OTP, there's already been plenty of build-up and UST in the canon. I am not a fan of "will they, won't they" stories, and if I'm going to read something about my OTP, I want something overtly romantic/sexual, not more hints and innuendos and long-drawn-out courtship. I can get that from the canon. I'm not saying it has to be a PWP, but I'm not reading ten chapters of the characters gazing longingly at each other and hesitating about whether or not to get together. I look to fanfic to provide me with things that the canon doesn't provide, not more of the same.
Re: Small things in fic that drive you insane
(Anonymous) 2014-01-13 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)In my fandom's original canon, the main pairing didn't even get to kiss! And it's a series that stretched out for a VERY long time. In this case, fans have had an overload of UST, so there is a correspondingly high amount of PWP in fanfic because we've had more than enough build-up in canon. :p
