I was reading this series of fics lately where a character was Jewish and practising some Jewish traditions, it wasn't important to the story to know exactly what they meant and the author had handy links at the bottom of each chapter, to explain the Jewish traditions: And they were all just a sentence or two long so it wasn't an entire Wiki article.

So that is also one way of doing it, it was also slightly explained during the chapters, but not too much as both characters knew the traditions (for the most part themselves).
