So he's rich, lucky, and has a nice restaurant. Those don't really seem like solid reasons to me, but maybe I'm missing something here. Yeah, rich and successful are nice but they're not like definite guarantee of awesomeness or anything.

i agree in theory but in the context of a completely fictional character i'm not sure what else you'd demand or what you'd be looking for. it's not like you can sit down with the guy and really get to know him.

You don't seem to grasp how hard it is to run a business. ANY business. And a restaurant, where the profit margins are slim and the work is physically backbreaking? It takes more than being a good cook, you have to be a good cook, business manager, accountant and a bunch of other things rolled up into one. Getting a Michelin star for your restaurant is like winning the gold medal at the Olympics except that instead of every four years, you're "competing" EVERY year.

being good at business does not make you a good person or indicate that you're good relationship material
