I don't like the "not good enough for" criticism because it's really vague and also sort of implies odd external rules about who is allowed to date who.

That said, OP, your description proves the man impressive -- not good. (Not that good is very well-defined. Okay, impressive isn't very well-defined, either. Whatever.)
