That's sort of what I always figure when I see people complaining about her fling with Mycroft.

Haha, totally. All these arguments for ~personality~ when so many beloved characters are total assholes with a grade-A mug.

As one of the Mycroft/Joan detractors: well, yeah, of course. Why should that be surprising? She had a one night stand with the guy. The expectation is for him to be sufficiently attractive or charming or both that a beautiful, brilliant, and personable woman like Joan would be interested in a hookup.

Instead, dude's unattractive and his personality comes off as alternately boring and creepy. Also, as far as I can recall, he doesn't say or do anything particularly intelligent during that episode; we as viewers know he's a genius because he's Mycroft Holmes, but there's no real evidence of it at that point.

His wealth and success and etc. might be factors if Joan were interested in a long-term relationship with Mycroft, but as a fling? He's definitely sub-par.
