The main reason I took such an intense courseload for my school's condensed semester is so I had a legitimate reason to avoid my friends and family as much as possible for nearly two months.

The confession part is that even though I know - for at least some of my friends and family - I should feel guilty about doing this, I kind of don't.

Did you just need a break or something from them? I don't see why you should feel guilty. If you had the need to have an intense workload to avoid people I would imagine you really needed that time away. ;)

Some of them tend to be quite emotionally dependent. While I doubt anyone is going to kill themselves or self-harm or anything too serious because I insist on waiting a few weeks before talking to them, I know there's a good chance some of them, left to their own devices or less supportive people in their lives, might end up struggling more with psychological issues and roadblocks than if I were there to help them get through these low points.
