I don't dislike the character (in fact, the movie triggered my lifelong love of mermaids), but the song "Part of Your World" is kind of sad in that Ariel really has no idea what's waiting for her up there. I mean, "Betcha on land/They understand/Bet they don't reprimand their daughters". Oh, honey, no.
