Maybe it's the inner academic in me, but I love being able to view my favorite media with a critical eye. Just because I like something doesn't mean I also have to blindly accept it as perfect. It only becomes a problem if the only thing you can focus on is the negative.

Same! I love critising and taking apart media so much sometimes it sounds like I'm complaining unduly but to tell the truth, the more I criticise something, the more I love it. I wouldn't look into it so much if I didn't enjoy it now, would I?

Exactly. I just don't even bother with stuff I don't otherwise love. Except when it has a basic premise that appeals but is outrageously over the top baaaaaad. Then it is fun to pick it apart, but for reasons of trashy plot/characterisation as much as anything else.

Even before I got into sj stuff, I would watch stuff with my friends and anyone who listened to us would think we hated the show but we were having fun making fun of something we loved.
