I haven't seen the show, so maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I think I agree with you, OP. From what I understand, he loved (loves?) his wife very much, but to me, stealing a man from a woman is less heartless than stealing a father from a child.* As in, I feel less guilty being attracted to a married guy than I do being attracted to a married guy who has kids. So I don't know if that's where your feeling comes from, but to me "dad" = massive hands off.

Single fathers, on the other hand...


*Before y'all jump on the bandwagon, I wouldn't actually DO either of those things. I'm just talking in a fannish, fantasy sense.
