I'm sorry to hear that. It's not stupid at all! Anything that helps you hang in there, no matter how small or silly it may seem, is great. You have good taste too, Mycroft is a BAMF! I really hope that you're able to talk to someone, anyone, about how you feel when/if you feel able to. As someone who's been through what you're going through it really does help to talk (as clichéd as that sounds, it really is true). Stay safe, OP.

Once, the thought that kept me alive was "Oh, but I just bought those steaks. I should eat those first." After getting them prepped and cooked (and I love cooking, so I was doing something fun, even if I couldn't fully enjoy it) and eating them, I kind of lost momentum for anything harmful. I sat down and watched a movie, instead.

If it works for you, it's definitely not stupid.

Whatever works, OP.

It's not stupid if it's keeping you alive.

Mycroft is great! Nice pic of him too. All the best to you and remember that everything changes.

It's not stupid at all, OP. Whatever gets you through the day.

I hope you'll get help though. Please take care of yourself.

I don't know where you're living, OP, but...

US (also Canadian) National Suicide Prevention Hotline - 1-800-273-8255
UK Hotline called Samaritans - 08457 90 90 90
Australia Lifeline - 13 11 14

Anything that helps is a good thing. You aren't alone in these feelings, and there are people out there that want to help and *can* help.

No I understand and i hope you're okay, stranger. Similarly, I strongly relate to how Sherlock has been in this series, it makes me feel less isolated in who I am.

I hope you stay alive, for whatever reason.

(And let's admit it, there are worse reasons to live than Mycroft.)

For what it's worth from a stranger, I hope you manage to find some measure of peace in life.

If it keeps you living? It's not stupid. Other people may think so, but it's not. Because it's keeping you going and hopefully things will pick up for you one day.

This is absolutely NOT silly. Anything that gives you a reason to keep going, something to look forward to, is good.
I recently read something along these lines, you should give it a read. I know it helped me a ton.
Well worth the read, I promise.
(Sorry that's on my gf's blog, I can't wade through the original blog far enough to find the original post.)

Two years ago, I was in a similar place. I was suicidal, close to doing it, and the only thing that kept me going for about a month over that Christmas period was looking forward to series 2. So you're not alone.

It's a good thing to do, to hold onto something you feel a connection with and let it help you.

(Though I would not recommend watching ep 3 of series 2 any time soon, it dealt with this subject really shittily. Honestly I felt like tweeting the writers after it with 'some of your viewers may be using Sherlock to try to get through suicidal problems right now, I can understand you couldn't warn for reasons of spoilers, but c'mon I honestly nearly killed myself in the 24 hours after that effin ending.'

But I didn't, because it really wasn't their fault.

Practical help:

1. I also suggest calling a suicide helpline (see numbers in a previous comment). Even if you don't want to talk, or even give your name, they don't mind if you just cry at them for half an hour. Honestly! They don't mind if you're just a wet messy wreck, and they can't see the snot.

2. What helped me after that was that I also started a tumblr blog based on my favourite pairing from Sherlock. You can do one on Mycroft (if you don't already). Tumblr takes up loads of time and is a really good distraction. The other Mycroft blogs on tumblr are pretty fabulous so there's lots to reblog. I think Mycroft fans are the best.

3. Remember that you're a unique and irreplaceable person. Always.

4. Like what you like. Your own responses are valid.

5. Getting better takes time so don't expect it to be quick. Rest, sleep, exercise and eat.

I hope this helped.

This is the only time I'm glad it takes so long between the Sherlock seasons because it means you have to hang on at least for over a year. And please, do hang on. Please get help - call a help line or find a help forum where you can chat about your problem anonymously, or whatever the method. Just get help. You're not alone. You're important, and the world will be a lesser place without you. Please don't give up on us just yet.
