(Anonymous) 2014-01-18 12:32 am (UTC)(link)It is reasonable that if you find yourself getting pegged as a |whatever-trope|-writer instead of just a writer that you want to expand your repertoire, but you have to accept that some types of trope usage and genre are more popular than others. If you crafted those other tropes well then it is only natural that a lot of your fans want their warm feelgood-duvet back. It is the burden you have to bear as a writer. The eternal wordsmith's dilemma: are you going to be cliche yet popular or adventurous and indie?
