I have - perhaps somewhat naively - hoped that a lot of the people who defend him (especially those who weren't in the biz yet at the time) just didn't know much about the case and assumed he must have had consensual sex with an older teen who was only slightly below the age of consent and he was just getting railroaded over having "technically" committed statutory rape.

Last time there were big headlines about him, I came across a transcript of his victim's testimony. I didn't read all of it - I gave up when she used the word "cuddllingus"- but from what I did read, it was pretty clearly not consensual, which makes the issue of her age moot. For the record, though, it was 13.

Some people who have defended him must know more of the story, howevet, which means they are defending a man who molested and raped a drugged 13 year old and doesn't even act contrite about it. That makes me sick.

Yeah, it's like ignoring her age, it's still clearly rape since he roofied her. And even without the roofies, she was 13 so it's statutory. Like either way you slice it, he raped her, idg how anyone can defend him.

Emma Thompson admitted she hadn't actually researched the case before she signed the petition and withdrew her signature once she had. So in that case it was just stupidity, not pro-rape.
