I just think the identical word usage is a little odd... A lot of people must really like the word "aloof." But dislike the people it describes. :P

That's not the fandom experience I know. Childish I'll give you, but I tend to find "overemotional" and "lacking in boundary awareness" to be the prominent behaviors.

Maybe everyone in fandom channels their emotions into fandom b/c they don't know how to express them IRL. Or something.

Weirdly, it's fandom friends who think I'm 'aloof'. IRL I'm seen as a 'social' person. I'm confused by both perceptions.

Fandom in general leans towards overemotional, but here on F!S I can see in skewing in the other direction.
