I honestly believe Micheal Jackson was a gay manchild, but I don't believe he ever sexed the kids. I think he did things that'd be considered inappropriate, coming from the place of a child mentality (like literally sleeping together spooning) but I think we'd have something more solid by now. And I think there's people who think like me. And people who think other things but don't think he did it either.

Roman, on the other hand, we all know he did it. Even his apologists wave off the act more then deny it.

That's sort of my interpretation of MJ, too.

Like that he identified with kids more than adults and his sexuality was sort of stunted that way. I believe that he may have watched porn with kids, but more in the way that I used to with my friend when we were 14 (omg, hush, we're doing something naughty). Obviously, it was inappropriate,and one can never be sure what actually happened, but that's the feeling I get about it, too.

I agree with you. I think on the one hand, he was a very intelligent person, reading some of his letters and watching interviews makes that very obvious. He was very consciously aware of his role as a music icon and he was constantly striving for perfection. But on the other, I think he had a lot of social issues that really fucked him up, and his father's abuse didn't help. He had the more pressure on him from a young age and developmentally, something like that can seriously damage a kid. I think he was desperate to be friends with children because he wanted to fill in a part of himself that he thought was miss. And I definitely agree some of what he did was inappropriate. The sleepovers and whatnot, but I don't think it ever turned sexual.

That's kind of how I feel about MJ. I think in a way he kind of saw himself as a kid too so it didn't seem inappropriate or weird to him, even though it was to everyone else.

I was too young to care when it was all going on, but my mom feels the same way about MJ.

Also, from all accounts I've heard, the only "child porn" they found in Jackson's home were one or two photography books that including shots of naked children playing. Nottttt the same thing.

Right. I think a lot of factors in his life could easily lead to a case of arrested development. I mean... and you look at the things he did with his money, too, and you have to think... I mean, buying a monkey is something a kid would do, given the resources. He didn't get to have a childhood when he WAS a child, he kind of had to buy one as an adult.

The fact that one of the 'victims' came out saying it was a scam that he was coached into convinced me that Jackson didn't really have sex with any children, just that he was in a mental/emotional place that led to a lot of apparent impropriety.

I just... never bought him as an emotional adult during those years. I don't know if he ever 'grew up', either. We all just sort of have to accept that we'll probably never know a lot of things, I guess, and go with what we think is most likely.

Yeah but what are the lasting effects on the kids? Intent doesn't excuse crime, if any were committed.

The only lasting effect on the kids is a deep distrust towards guardians because their parents pressured them into telling lies for profit.

That was pretty much South Park's take on the whole thing. That MJ wasn't a rapist, but was horribly immature and irresponsible. And frankly that's what the evidence suggests to me as well.
