Re: Too late to the party
Commercials annoy me too so usually when I plan on watching something "live" I'll wait the length of the commercials after it comes on to start it, so I can fast forward but still watch more or less in real time.
Re: Too late to the party
Funnily enough I thought about you whilst writing this. Heh.Commercials annoy me too so usually when I plan on watching something "live" I'll wait the length of the commercials after it comes on to start it, so I can fast forward but still watch more or less in real time.
Ooo, that's a good idea. I'm too impatient to do that once the show starts. (Unless I get distracted or have to deal with something first, then I'm like, "SCORE! I CAN FAST FORWARD!") Usually I get on tumblr and read the commentary; that can be amusing (or frustrating, etc, but it's...an experience).
"Nope, there's just way too much, I'll never catch up, can't do this"
I know that feel man. Do I know that feel. It took me MONTHS to catch up with all my shows. By that time I didn't always feel like watching, but then I would sit down and be like, "*grumble* You need to delete this, so just fucking watch." Sometimes I watched while exercising, so that helped.
If you really aren't interested in certain shows, just delete them. I've basically given up on Hawaii 5-0 because I feel very meh about it now and just know every episode is going to be sitting on my DVR for weeks or worse, months. If there's something that you know you'll want to pick up again then try to watch an episode now and then, but when you're just holding onto a show because 'it used to be good!' then LET GO.
Re: Too late to the party
Like during the episode? For some reason that never occurred to me. That could be interesting. Sometimes if I don't feel like waiting (or if I'm watching something I don't have to pay total attention to) I'll check Twitter or play games on my phone, though.

I think I'm at that point with White Collar. I just...don't care anymore, and I can't really see it going in a direction where I like it again. I need to just delete it and move on. And I'm with you on Hawaii 5-0. I don't really like it much anymore but I'm not quite ready to give up on it just yet. I guess I just keep hoping that it'll get good again (although that's probably not going to happen).
And I have some shows I've never even seen on there (Continuum, Defiance, Masters of Sex, and Almost Human...there might be a couple more that I can't think of right now). I definitely want to watch Almost Human because I've heard a bunch of good things, but I don't know about the others...maybe I should just delete them too.
Re: Too late to the party
Yea, usually during the commercials. It makes the time pass faster. Games and twitter is a nice solution as well, though.

:( I remember having this discussion with you. I haven't watched this season and honestly can't remember if I finished last season. When I heard Warren Kole and Bridget Regan were going to join the show it almost changed my mind, but in the end I didn't care enough about Neal's storyline to keep watching. I can't even tell you why I don't like Hawaii 5-0 anymore; it's not always terrible, I'm just bored with it and nothing feels fresh or exciting anymore. I do hope it gets better though; if it did I would consider rewatching.
Haven't seen Continuum or Masters of Sex, but I really enjoyed Defiance and Almost Human. Almost Human is probably my favorite new show and Defiance was pretty damn good. Still, if you're having trouble keeping up with shows you already have a history with, I totally understand not wanting to add something new to your list. I tend to give new shows a couple episodes and if I'm not feeling it I'll drop them. Sometimes shows need a bit longer to really get into the grove, but the fact is if you aren't enjoying them it's a waste of time.
Re: Too late to the party
Yeah, exactly. I don't care about what happens to Neal anymore (or any of the other characters for that matter) and there's pretty much no point in watching anymore when that happens. With H50 there was one 3 or 4 episodes ago that I thought was really good, but other than that it hasn't been all that great lately. I don't know why I still watch, honestly, other than just wanting to see if it gets better, I guess.

I want to check them all out for one reason or another, but that's just it. I kind of feel like I don't have enough time for the stuff I already watch, so part of me hates to add something new. I guess I need to just watch a few episodes of each one and see if I like them.
