(Anonymous) 2014-01-18 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)Their parents never taught them how to not be disrespectful, unenlightened twats whose purpose in life is to jab and nitpick and jerk off at every little potential inconsistency or unconfirmed detail of a tragedy and contort it to suit their version of the truth they already believe. They aggressively and douchekayakingly go into hero mode, claiming its their duty to spread the word of the DoucheKayaking Hero to all the poor, ignorant sheeple, and it never once enters their minds that, just maybe, 1) what happened might have been what actually fucking happened, no tricks, setups, or coverups, and 2) people suffering directly or even indirectly (family, friends) from the tragedy have enough shit to deal with without these "truthers" intruding upon the misery they're feeling and invalidating it and perverting it into some crazy conspiracy.
Seriously. Fuck conspiracy theorists.
(For the record, I'm not saying what they claim isn't POSSIBLE... but you can pull anything out of your ass and call it possible, and it doesn't make it true. Just highly improbable.)

I agree that 9/11 truthers are lunatic dickheads (which is the group that you seem to have the most animus towards, & I'm sincerely sorry if you have some personal loss tied up in this). But I think the problem arises in cases where they lose touch with reality and lose any semblance of reason. The problem is not that they dare to question the established wisdom or that they're disrespectful.
If there is a reasonable question about the course of events, it should be investigated thoroughly. It should be investigated in a rational and intelligent manner, and with some consideration for the feelings of victims and survivors, but it absolutely has to be investigated. Whether or not maybe that makes people feel bad, if there's reasonable questions, they should be investigated. The difference is that in the case of 9/11, there aren't any reasonable questions. But that's no reason to dismiss investigating things at all.
I mean, Watergate started as a conspiracy theory. The My Lai massacre started as a conspiracy theory. I don't think we should have left Watergate alone because "it's absurd that the President could have been involved in covering up something like that, don't disrespect him", or My Lai because "the soldiers have enough shit to deal with".

OMG Sandy Hook dad was LAUGHINGING before INTERVIEW!!!!! His kid didn't really die and HE'S IN ON THE WHOLE THING!!!!!!!!1111oneone and he probably HAS SOME ROLE in BOSTON MARATHON BOMBINGS!!!!!! People who fervently believe that shit with flimsy or no evidence and then beat others in the heads with their theories are fucking stupid and should feel bad about themselves.
