Re: messed-up level: >9000?

One of my friends said she had pancreatic cancer too and it turned out she was a lying lier who lied. I wonder why liers are picking pancreatic cancer? It is a well documented cancer where I live (as she would have been one of the youngest women to get it if it had been true).

She also lied about being pregnant, losing the baby, and most recently to my friend about having a drivers license (she borrowed my friends car for a year without one).

I haven't been friends with her since I found out that she had faked having cancer and figured out the baby was untrue as well. My BFF is still friends with the other girl and I can't. All ex friend does is lie.

Sorry your brother is going through that.

I read pancreatic cancer as prostate cancer and was rather confused. It is a difficult cancer to diagnose but uncommon for those under the age of 40. I don't understand why people lie about things that can be easily proven false.

I'm glad you no longer have to deal with her directly.

I don't know why she lied about that type of cancer either. What was really bad was that someone's daughter of my moms friends friend has pancreatic cancer and died from it. So it made the whole situation even more messed. That was how we finally figured out she didn't have it. My moms friends friend (confusing lol) looked her up and had no idea who she was as they would have met her sometime durning their daughters treatment and she wasn't in any registry. Like it was so messed. Someone's daughter died and there she was lying about it. Makes me sick.

Me too. I worry for my BFF as ex friend won't stop lying to her. But my bff continues to be her friend as she believes she doesn't have enough friends and needs to hold on to the ones she can. It makes me sad. I hope one day she sees the light and stops being friends with the pathological liar.

"The situation is messed" is an understatement. I'm glad you found out the truth. It sounds like your BFF is a good person. I hope she is not enabling the ex-friend with her lies and calling her out on them, and that she won't be hurt from the relationship.

JUDGE: Sir, in your letter regarding your missing of the July 24th court appearance, you said it was because you were caring for your elderly aunt who is in the hospital for prostate cancer?

ACCUSED: Yes, your honor, and she’s still there.

JUDGE: Sir, your aunt doesn’t have a prostate.

ACCUSED: …

is this a real case?

ayrt

I don't know. Richard Lederer included it in his book Bride of Anguished English (well, this is a paraphrase of the version there), and said all the courtroom quotes were real, but it's not sourced beyond that.

I was going to ask if the aunt might ben a transwoman. After considering how few people underwent gender transformations and are currently elderly, stupidity seem to be more likely in this sitation.

I will never understand why people do things like that. Unless you vanish, or are incredible at faking it you are almost guarantied to get caught.

The lying about being pregnant thing really creeps me out, because I've watched too many of those true crime shows about women who pretended to be pregnant and then killed, or tried to kill actually pregnant women to take their babies.

I don't know. Her lying never helped my ex friend. It cost her two friendships and who knows what else. Oh, she even lied about going to the states for university as well. We figured it out though her Facebook as how dates didn't correlate.

The whole pregnancy and losing the baby was wack. Like I had another friend who actually lost her baby and it was crushing, so for ex friend to lie about it is disgusting. She needs help.

Well, the one time I did it? Because I was taking the time I needed to get ready to end an abusive friendship.

In fairness, it was only to one person (and someone who'd become a close friend after meeting in fandom so not very close by), o didn't claim anything life threatening, and I really was fairly sick... Just not as sick as is let on.

I'm in a situation a bit like this. Some of my family and friends don't understand how debilitating my mental illness can be, but are perfectly willing to accept "I can't come out, I've got a stomach bug" as an excuse over "I can't come out, I'm having a seriously bad emotional fortitude day and will be shitty company because I'll be second-guessing everything either of us says and oh I haven't been able to stop crying since I did [tiny mistake, like spilling milk], so that'll be fun". So I say I'm sick, with something minor enough that nobody will worry but annoying enough that they won't want to get it.

Yep. She even lied about other things as well. Really glad we're not friends anymore.
