Well, today I learned that gravy can be made using milk! I'm going to presume it's just one of those words that has different meanings depending on the country, because the idea of making UK gravy with milk is revolting.

Yeah, I went Googling; in the UK (as far as I am aware) we only have one gravy, which is what you call brown gravy. Everything else you'd call gravies is a sauce of some kind for us - like white sauce, tomato sauce (different from the ketchup sauce), whatever.

SA Sorry, scratch the tomato sauce bit, clearly I am knackered and unable to read properly.

My gravy is meat fat/?drippings?/excess + flour and maybe some herbs. I feel my cooking horizons growing.

We eat gravy with like...sausage and biscuits? What is UK gravy like?

The only gravy we have is what you call brown gravy I think. Also I have no idea what the UK equivalent of biscuits would be, as what we call biscuits you call cookies and they're definitely not eaten with sausages ...

This thread is sure making me hungry though!

This is biscuits and gravy and it is delicious.

We also have brown gravy (for like mashed potatoes and cube steak).

From what I know, American biscuits are somewhat similar to scones.

(I'm Australian, so biscuits=cookies and scones are scones are scones. I do however read food articles on Wikipedia.)
