Re: "Pedophilia is a sexual orientation, not a disease." - quotes
Frankly I don't care if it's a disease or orientation or whathaveyou. It will never be on the same level as adult sexuality. There's no proper consent or understanding. A person is hurting a child. Struggle and get help for it all you want, but once you start to act upon it all my sympathies are gone.
Re: "Pedophilia is a sexual orientation, not a disease." - quotes
Pedophilia - in terms of being attracted to small children - I'd say shouldn't be a default crime, if only because it's impossible for someone to get treatment for it if they have this attraction but do not want to harm kids. Child molestation - which is sex with a child, regardless of attraction - should be a crime...because it's an action, not what someone is thinking or feeling in their head.
Re: "Pedophilia is a sexual orientation, not a disease." - quotes
Yep. Which is why I think there should be a distinction between people who have sexual attraction to children and people actively harms children to sate their desires. Also, I do not agree with thought policing or punishing people for having thoughts about something. Thoughts do not affect the physical plane but actions do. A child, once hurt, cannot be un-hurt. That's what punishments should address.
