THERE IS NOT FORTH WALL IN REAL LIFE!

Characters are the only ones who can ignore a forth wall, actors have no forth wall.

The fourth wall has been used as a slang term for the separation between creators and fans for at least a few years now. I'm pretty sure people who use it that way are aware of the distinction.

um wow. in fact. the etymology of the term is from the fourth wall of the stage dividing the actors from the audience. so when the actor breaks character and speaks to the audience, that's breaking the fourth wall. so this is a pretty apt usage.
