I agree. One of the best parts of the show is how nice they are to each other. Even when Fitz plays the slightly more angsty of the pair, it just makes him more adorable.

Aww man I'm so glad they're nice to each other. Everyone being a shit was one of the reasons I never could get into Torchwood, whereas Fitzsimmons are adorable brilliant co-dependent puppies and I love them.

Exactly. There are plenty of people with unhealthy relationships on TV, so I like that these two are so loving and kind to each other. They're very sweet and their chemistry is believable; I wouldn't have them any other way.

Part of why I love Peter and El Burke in White Collar. So much happy and adorable.

I am really glad that Fitzsimmmons =/= Tosh and Owen. I fucking hated Owen. I don't think I even made it halfway through the first season of Torchwood, so great was my hatred for that schmuck.

I loathed Owen so much, I have a hard time liking other characters played by the same actor. I'd have misliked Gottlieb in Pacific Rim, regardless who played him, but Gorman playing him meant I straight up hated him.

I think it's meant to be a nice departure from exactly that

I mean let's face it, more and more TV partnerships - romantic, friendships, and otherwise - are full of snark and Srs Bsns and generally on the deep and depressing side. I'm a big fan of snark, but I like this little breakaway, and the fact that these two are so nice really adds some contrast to the series. It means everyone else can be a bit more dark, snark, and serious without having to go into sarcastic emo mode just to stand out. And it's really nice to see that people can have a relationship that isn't sarcasm and angst and still have it be a deep and meaningful relationship.

That said, I don't blame you for that kind of expectation, either. AOS is kind of a Torchwood Lite for MCU.

Haven't seen Agents of Shield, but I fucking hated Owen and then he grew on me like a fungus and I cried so hard over both Tosh and Owen in the end

Which makes sense when you consider both of their death counts.

Now I'm just sad about Torchwood all over again. Mainly over Tosh because I loved her while Owen was just a douchenozzle 99% of the time. I did find his last scene pretty emotional, though.

I always ended up kinda liking Owen because Burn Gorman would act the shit out of any material he was given. It was pretty bad, but you could tell he was always trying to do the best he could with it. I'm so happy that he's been working so steadily because I enjoy his performances in everything of his I've seen.

It wasn't Tosh and Owen being nasty to each other though. It was mostly Owen being nasty to Tosh and Tosh mostly just taking it because she liked him so much which was actually pretty uncomfortable to watch. Their relationship only became bearable in s2 when Owen got a personality readjustment and actually started treating her like a human being instead of his favourite emotional punching bag. I may not be a huge fan of Agents of SHEILD, but I'm pretty glad that FitzSimmons are as far away from that dynamic as we can get and actually seem to like and respect one another.

Yeah, but there's still something about FitzSimmons that bothers me. I think it's that it kind of reads like puppy love on both their parts, but I want them to be buddies. It'd read less like crushing if they'd snark at each other, or at least affectionately tease, or something.
