Yeah, see just because you happen to be fat and like slash does not mean that it's a harmless statement or that every other person needs to feel the way you feel. So you're not upset with people mocking you, good for you. I think it's completely a normal reaction to be upset to be mocked, especially by someone you looked up to or admire, and definitely not a case of "taking yourself too seriously".

So if I call you a dork you're going to be like, really offended, right?

Someone else responded to you and then erased it. That's a shame, because it's a good comment.

I guess my issue is that this character appears to be a full part of the show--not a one-off gag about how all slash girls are fat (or all fat nerdy girls like slash). It also doesn't appear to be the kind of pseudo-hateful image nerds and dorks get in shows like Big Bang Theory.

I don't see what the problem with this is. Are we supposed to make sure that no fat woman on television appears too nerdy? Because I'd prefer if we were treated like whole people. Things are getting better, at least in the US. I'm kind of happy this character exists.

I asked this before & I'll ask it again: why is showing a fat person (actually a slightly overweight person) assumed to be MOCKERY? Why isn't it tokenism?
