You don't deny family. You can say you are ashamed of them. You can say you don't agree with them. But you never deny them.

Especially in this age of nosy fans with internet connects and too much time on their hands. You know someone out there is making family trees of their favorite celebrities. Digging the dirt into their families. So you might as well beat them to the punch and say, "Yeah, we've got black sheep. Here they are."

Nobody would give a shit about Nathan Fillion's great-great-great-great-great-grandfather unless he decided to bring it up. I mean, at that distance in time, it's essentially meaningless except insofar as he decides to give meaning to it. The idea that he has to say something to get out ahead of the story is absurd.

Bullshit. There are always fluff pieces on sites like Yahoo and the Daily Mail where they discuss how so and so is related to so and so and how they are both related to so and so from history.

Like here's one where are the US presidents are related to each other except for Van Buren; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2183858/All-presidents-bar-directly-descended-medieval-English-king.html

Or how Tom Hanks is related to Lincoln; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2207331/How-Tom-Hanks-related-Abraham-Lincoln-presidents-mother.html

Or how Obama is related to Brad Pitt; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/article-1001741/Match-heaven-Obama-related-Brad-Pitt-Clinton-cousins-Angelina-Jolie.html

Writing a fluff piece on it is not the same as giving a shit about it. It's a mildly interesting piece of trivia, not something that anyone on earth is going to criticize him for. There's no need for him to manage the PR nightmare of a fluff piece appearing about his genealogy.

not something that anyone on earth is going to criticize him for

Except for OP and some others, who are apparently invested in overthinking things.

Actually it's more to do with Joss naming a Firefly character after Jubal Early, so technically *he's* brining it up
