My English professor said that women have won, we're no longer oppressed so just let it go. I'm not sure if he was joking or not but it definitely soured me towards him, haha.

He also said (on a completely different day) that no one loves you as much as they love themselves and really, whether humans are even capable of loving each other is a good question...so I don't know if he just has a very dry, dark sense of humor or what.

He might just be really butter, because that second remark is true on some levels. My mum used to tell me the only person you can ever really trust is yourself, and she's fairly well adjusted.

I mean, I agree with the second remark (to some extent) but I'm not sure if he was joking when he said it. And he said it in the same tone as the first remark.

Only people who have never loved anyone think denying the existence of love is plausible. Just like people who have never felt altruism deny the existence of altruism. Narrowmindedness and self-satisfied egocentricism goes hand in hand with being a worthless human being, because it's the only way for them to pretend that they're not a worthless human being themselves, despite the evidence.

(This doesn't apply to people who have had the misfortune of being so surrounded by horrible people that they have never known anyone who they could love, obvs. )
