That's what the straight people who theoretically support gay rights on Tumblr tell me. I've seen some criticisms of Macklemore from gay people and I can see where they're coming from but I've also seen straight people go way over the top in their defense of him. Maybe they are seeing much different criticisms than I am?

There are some really god damn stupid people who hate him for the stupidest reasons I've ever heard. Basically, for not being an ally in the exact way they want him to be.

It's honestly incomprehensibly dumb, so completely devoid of any sort of sensible logic or reason it's kind of amazing, even for SJW shit.

These same people probably think you're basically Satan because you said "gay people" instead of queer so you're pretty erasing the existence of all non-straight people who aren't gay.

Just to clarify, I don't really care for Macklemore, so this isn't coming from a place of bias. I just hate nitpicky, defeatist shit like this that will do absolutely nothing but alienate people trying to help and set back progress by saying "nothing you do will ever be good enough so just stop trying".

Well yeah, but it has 12000 notes, and a good chunk of them are people agreeing with it. Like "finally someone pointed out why Macklemore is such a horrible person". I've seen other posts in a similar vein as well.

I'm not seeing where that post claims he's a horrible person? I don't agree with all of it but it's polite and takes time to explain that they're not blaming him for being straight (because so many straight people claimed that anyone who has a problem with him is doing that) and I don't know why people are responding to it with the same kind of rhetoric that the "die cishet scum" crowd get.

Can you explain what's so bad about that post?

I honestly don't care about him but I figured it wasn't as black and white as it appeared from afar while I tried not to pay attention.

I should probably mention that I like the song too. I've known about it since before it got popular and it made me really happy when it appeared on Billboard's Hot 100 and was actually sort of mainstream. I just wish that people could criticize it and him without everyone acting like they've said he's a terrible bigot.

I'm like completely neutral on Macklemore. At least he isn't calling himself King of the Gays like Gaga does (even though I still like her stupid music.)
I like Thrift Shop but Same Love is such a tedious song.
(And the drawing line was really dumb, what you can relate to us because some kid called you gay in 4th grade?)

Lol at least Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl was catchy even if it was less conscientious.
