He doesn't want to define her gender because it doesn't need defining. That was the whole point of his tweet. "You don't get that she's a woman? Well then I'm going to leave you confused, if you think you have to insult my artstyle". It's really not that hard.

And even if - which is not the case - she was trans it still makes her a woman. I don't know why tumblr is so fucking hung up on othering trans people when all that said transpeople want is to be regarded as the gender they feel they are?

HFirstly, no one says they msut be a binary transwoman, or a woman at all. They could be a cis male, or a transmale, or an intersex person of any gender. Secondly, how nice of you to say that trans people who want representation must shut up, because you know better than them what they want.

Yes, canon/word of god says she is a woman. Which flavour of woman is not specified. No, she is not a cis male. She has breasts, for crying out loud. Few cis men have those, at least not under a certain weight.

I never said trans people must shut up if they want representation. It's just that shoehorning a non-existant representation in a canon where it doesn't exist doesn't somehow magically change the canon facts.

No, canon word of god says that Hanji's gender is unspecified, all references to Hanji's gender must be removed from the official manga and fans are to be allowed to interpret Hanji however they want. Female, male or other. Hanji has no breasts in manga, and even if they did, physical body doesn't determine a person's gender. I can't believe you talk about transgenderism and yet you don't understand this simple fact.

Hanji's gender is like race fo kids in Homestuck. Even if it was not originally meant to be ambiguous, it is now and fuck anyone from the majority who tries to shit on minorities for making use of this for some representation where it's at least a possibility endorsed by the author.

Canon word of god says "if you're too stupid to see she's female, I can't help you either" and the fact that there are no gendered pronouns is just how the Japanese language works. Fans are allowed to interpret her any way they want, just don't delude yourself into thinking your headcanon is real when it's not!

You said she could be cis male. Cis male is per definition a man born in a male body. Breasts don't appear on biologically male bodies - you were the one who brought the "cis male" into this, so don't act as if I'm to blame.

He specifically told everyone working on the manga to not use any gendered pronouns for Hanji or to use male and female pronouns equally. He also told them to do the same for all past references to Hanji's gender and gendered pronouns. That is what the canon word of God says.

Huh, where did I say THAT? I just disagreed with someone who tried to argue that Hanji is canonically a woman. Hanji is canonically gender ambiguous and every headcanon is right.
