To be fair, he was both stupid and a bad friend in the earliest episodes. And Teen Wolf is the fandom where half the fans don't watch the source material or only watched the first few eps, so it's never surprised me to see him written that way.

I guess I didn't think he was that bad considering his age, his predicament, and the show's overall bad writing.

As for the second part... that just makes it more irritating for me.

Given that his only friend then was Stiles, who gives him tit for tat in the friendship department (hey, let's get the shit kicked out of Scott by psycho students. it's okay because he can take it.), I thought it was pretty clear they were pretty much brothers regardless.

Of course, if the exaggerated dim Scotts are from people who don't watch the show (and Scott isn't immediately likable lbr), then yeah.

This is my bigger always peeve! It's one of the major reasons I got put off by Sterek fandom so fast.
