That isn't the reason a fair number of people write fic. Sometimes it's adventure or whump or just exploring the world in a different way.

That's why I write fic myself. Its an outlet for all the ideas about exciting situations I have in mind. Granted, some of those situations may include romance, but not most of them.

The comment you replied to just gave me this bad impression that it was saying anyone who is involved in fandom for reasons other than shipping is abnormal and doesn't understand the TRUE meaning of fandom.
